Gateway of India
When it comes to iconic attractions in Mumbai, the Gateway of India monument often sits atop the list. Originally built in 1924 in order to celebrate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary, it also was the very last place that British troops were stationed before they left in 1947. This is when India gained its Independence. Not only is it filled with history and importance, but it’s also striking to look at and makes for an incredible photo opportunity.

Haji Ali Dargah
Located in central Mumbai is the Haji Ali which is a tomb and a mosque. The structure dates all the way back to 1431 and is located right in the middle of the ocean. What this means is that you can only access it by a walkway that is 500 yards long, and extremely narrow, and can only be used during low tide. It makes for a spectacular and unique experience.
Banganga Tank
If you are somewhat of a history buff then you’ll appreciate the history behind Banganga Tank. This is the oldest continually inhabited spot in the city. You’ll find narrow streets, Dharamsalas (religious rest houses), residential houses, and temples, all of which are historic and incredible to see in person.

Juhu Beach
Mumbai is also home to Juhu Beach, which can be worth a visit. Keep in mind this isn’t a typical beach as the sheer volume of residents, nearby factories, and waste has dramatically affected the quality and cleanliness of the beach. Still, it’s a sight to see.
Colaba Causeway
You simply cannot come to Mumbai and not experience the shopping. There is no better place to do that than the Colaba Causeway, which is the most crowded and exciting of all the shopping districts/markets. There is shop after shop, cafes, stands, and stalls, all of which will keep you busy for hours on end.

Worth Taking the Extra Time to Visit
