It can be difficult to find the best places in Jodhpur. Here’s our guide for 6 Top Places To Visit Jodhpur one of our favourite stops in India.
- THE BLUE CITY
Jodhpur’s Blue City is the reason so many tourists visit it each year.
You are free to explore the city on your own, but the indigo-coloured houses that stretch over 10 kilometres is a major drawback. It can be difficult to find the best spots on your own.
The Blue City Walking Tour was a great experience. Our guide took us through the streets and explained some of the fascinating histories behind the blue walls.
The blue city walls, which are the second largest in Rajasthan state, is definitely one of the most popular places in Jodhpur that you should include in your Jodhpur Tour Packages.
- MEHRANGARH FORT
Most Indians rank Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, as the best Fort.
As a foreigner, it costs 600 Rupees. This is a reasonable price compared to other attractions in India.
Access to the museum and an audio tour is included in the entrance fee.
A Jodhpur City Tour: Full-Day Private Tour is an excellent option if you are short on time or want to see as many of the places as possible in Jodhpur.
You can see the amazing monuments of Jodhpur in a full-day trip, which takes you on an air-conditioned car that takes you to historical forts and temples as well as breathtaking gardens and a palace that has been converted into a heritage hotel.
We took the audio tour of Mehrangarh Fort and learned all about its history and significance.
- THE STEPWELLS
Many stepwells from ancient times are located around Jodhpur. They were used for water storage and collection.
These step wells, which are located at the foot of a hill in Jodhpur, India, are an example of the many storages and irrigation tanks that India has developed to deal with seasonal fluctuations in the water supply.
They are also useful in preventing floods during rainy seasons.
Toorji Ka Jhalra is right in the heart of town and one of our favorite stepwells.
It’s a great place to cool down, and we even took the plunge by jumping from the third tier.
If you feel really strong, you can join the locals and jump off the roof with them! Make sure to have travel insurance!
- MANDORE GARDENS
You’ll be able to forget that you are in India if you take a 20-minute rickshaw ride out of the city.
Mandore Gardens is a delightful collection of memorials and temples set on high rock terraces. This is a place that not many tourists venture to.
To get to Mandore Gardens, we paid 500 rupees each (split between 6 persons). After an hour of waiting, our driver returned us to our hotel.
You can pre-book a Jodhpur Guided Full-Day Tour if you are interested in this type of service. This includes stops at Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada.
Mandore Gardens is a beautiful place to go to in Jodhpur if you want to relax and enjoy some greenery or to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- Ghanta Ghar
The Ghanta Ghar (or Jodhpur Clock Tower) is located in the middle of the city. It overlooks the Sardar Market. Maharaja Sardar Singh built the Clock Tower, which is why the market got its name.
Ghanta Ghar is only 30 rupees per visit. It gives you a view of the Clock Tower from inside and a view over the bustling markets below.
The Sardar Market is open to all handicrafts, so you don’t have to stick with local products if you need something from Jodhpur.
The Jodhpur Guided Highlights Half Day City Tour is a great option if you want to take a guided tour not just of the market but also the highlights of the top places to visit in Jodhpur.
Sardar Market has everything you could want, and there are always quirky local stalls! You must also visit Shri Mishrilal Hotel, Jodhpur’s most beloved spot for lassi lovers.
- Street Food
Indian culture is dominated by food, so it’s important to immerse yourself in the cuisine. There are many tours for true foodies, including the Jodhpur Guided Street Food Crawl. There were many wonderful places to eat out, but these are our top picks.
The Blue Turban:
This rooftop cafe opens at 6 pm. It offers the best view of Jodhpur Fortnightly.
It’s easy to find Mehrangarh Fort, which is within walking distance, and Indian food at the usual Indian prices. It’s great to see that they didn’t increase the cost of the incredible view.
Shahi Samosas:
It was a huge hit with Indians and one of the busiest samosa shops in India.
Shahi Samosas was definitely one of the most popular places in Jodhpur. We knew the food was good from seeing the Indians outside.
